This paper discusses proposed modifications to the EirGrid Interconnector Designated Activity Company (EIDAC) Electricity Interconnector Operating Licence as submitted by EIDAC under section 19 of the Electricity Regulation Act 1999. The East West Interconnector (EWIC), previously connecting two EU member states, now functions as a third-country interconnector since the UK’s departure from the EU, thus necessitating a licence update.
Key changes include amendments to Licence Condition 17, which relates to prohibited activities.
The information paper has been published alongside clean and tracked versions of the proposed modified licence, the CRU requests that any representations or objections are raised here.
If any representations or objections with respect to the proposed licence modifications are received by the CRU, these will need to be taken into consideration prior to the licence taking effect. If no representations or objections are received by the closing date, the modifications will come into effect following the publication of a CRU decision paper.
